At least 38 Taliban insurgents were killed in air and ground forces operations in southern Helmand province in the past 24 hours, the Provincial Governor's Office said in a statement on Tuesday. The operation was conducted in Geremsir and Nehr-e-Siraj districts of the province. Among the dead are Taliban commanders, according to the statement. The security forces also destroyed weapons and facilities belonging to the insurgents, it said. However, the statement did not provide further details about the operations nor about casualties among the security forces.
